Final Blog

I chose to do my final blog post on Ear Hustle episode 15 (Thick Glass). This episode caught my attention because I was interested in what fathers go through being a parent that’s incarcerated. This episode discusses the life behind bars while being a parent. Derrick chose the streets over his son. His downfall was starting to use drugs and then he got arrested for first degree murder causing him to get sentenced 37 years. His biggest concern was how he was going to be a father behind bars. These guys on ear hustle are still trying to stay connected to their families but it’s hard for them because a person behind bars can’t really give their kids too much advice. Their struggle in prison was how to be a dad and missing their kids.
